ABOUT US

Realization Center a licensed outpatient facility by New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, was founded in 1984 by Marilyn J. White,  CASAC, NCAC II. In 1988, she partnered with Dianne Schwartz, CPA, CASAC to serve both the under-served and the mis-served addiction population at large. Realization Center is a unique, comprehensive, full service outpatient treatment program that offers specialized treatment for addictions, as well as numerous emotional issues that are related to chemical dependency.  The Center is dedicated to the healing of the human spirit through a profound and very real emotional recovery.

Realization Center has grown from ten clients in 1984 to becoming a beautifully modern and very active recovery center.  People know that at Realization Center the treatment is different-it works, and life takes on an entirely different meaning.

Realization Center's treatment philosophy is based upon the belief that addiction as well as mental health issues affect the whole person.  This includes physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  In addition, our philosophy utilizes an integrated approach taking into consideration all functional aspects of a person's life.  We are particularly sensitive to special groups of people whose treatment needs have been misunderstood.  Realization Center provides a safe, warm, and completely confidential environment in which to begin the process of recovery.

Through "experiential" therapy, as opposed to the traditional intellectual based discussion therapy, individuals who come to Realization Center have the much needed opportunity to relieve and truly feel their original pain in a language that has no words, but in a language that the caring and very gifted staff at Realization Center not only have spoken themselves and truly understand, but are able to transform.  They work to pull individuals through their pain until it is no longer needed and dissolves along with its associated self-defeating behavior patterns, whether it be a form of substance abuse or a co-dependency.  Our clinical staff, under the direction of a Medical Director, a Board Certified Psychiatrist and Addictionologist is comprised of Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Certified Addictions Counselors and Specialists who believe in the potential of each individual to achieve true recovery.

Since we have helped thousands of people, we believe we can help you too-even if past treatments have failed... Please remember, at Realization Center, you will find the help you need and will always be treated with compassion, dignity, and understanding. After all, Realization Center is a place that is truly dedicated to helping people with substances, food, relationships and themselves.

The work at Realization Center is profoundly different, and you are welcome to come in and visit the Center at any time.

 Our Mission is True Recovery...

True Recovery is the healing of the human spirit.  It's the recognition that we have the right to live, but also the right to be happy.  It is the ability to have successful work life and satisfying relationships with family members and other loved ones.  A person who has reached the state of true recovery feels comfortable with his or her parents and siblings; parenting is an attainable skill, not a mish-mash of confusing feelings and responsibilities; and friendships with people are based on mutual delight, and sharing of intimacy, not a pain connection or a fear that it will end, that it's too good to be true.
